An international award-winner both as a violinist and composer, Alice Hong was featured on CBC’s 2018 edition of “30 Hot Classical Musicians Under 30”. Alice’s pieces have been performed and read by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Niagara Symphony, Georgian Bay Symphony, Ludwig Symphony Orchestra, Amersfoort Youth Orchestra, and principal members of the New York Philharmonic, Toronto Symphony, Atlanta Symphony, Canadian Opera Company, and others. Her works have won multiple awards from the ASCAP Morton Gould Awards as well as first prize at the International Keuris Competition, Carl E. Baldassarre Composer-Virtuosi Competition, NorCal Viola Society Commission Contest, Pikes Peak Composition Competition, and third prize along with the audience prize for the 2018 Lands End Ensemble Composition Competition. Alice earned her Doctorate of Musical Arts at the University of Toronto as well as a Master of Music from Rice University's Shepherd School of Music and a Bachelor of Music from the Cleveland Institute of Music. www.aliceyhong.com

Daniel Cho, 18, is a composer and violinist. He is a recipient of various awards and scholarships, including the Davidson Fellows Scholarship, the National Young Composers Challenge, the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra Composition Competition, and the NAfME Student Composers Competition. As a violinist, he has served as section violin in the New York String Orchestra Seminar, as well as Associate Concertmaster of the National Youth Orchestra (NYO-USA) and Juilliard Precollege Orchestra. Among Daniel’s teachers and mentors are Dr. Arthur Gottschalk, Dr. Pierre Jalbert, Dr. David Ludwig, and Dr. Andrew Thomas. Daniel is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Arts in Composition and Violin Performance at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music. |
